Pop star and wife to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, has signed on with the CW’s latest revamp of an old show, Melrose Place.

Simpson will play Violet: a “small town teen” who works the “sex kitten” angle, EW.com reports. The refurbished version of Melrose Place — spearheaded by Smallville‘s Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin — is considered a lock for the CW’s fall schedule. Davis Guggenheim, who won an Oscar for Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, has been tapped to direct the pilot.

Simpson’s most recent TV turn was on 7th Heaven. OG Melrose Place cast member Heather Locklear and teen drama alum Mischa Barton of The OC have also been mentioned as potential stars of the forthcoming show.

While his wife is busy on the small screen, Wentz and his band, Fall Out Boy, will be touring the U.S. with Cobra Starship and All Time Low. The outing kicks off April 3 in Mesa, AZ. But that’s not all on Wentz’s plate — he’s also planning a solo album inspired by his and Simpson’s newborn child, Bronx Mowgli.

The Fall Out Boy bassist penned a special lullaby for his son — a hidden track on the band’s new album Folie a Deux — and in a recent interview with the U.K.’s Daily Mail he says he’s ready for more. “We had so much fun doing it, I’m going to put out an album of songs for children.”

Ahem, speaking of love for children, Wentz recently discussed Michael Jackson with the BBC while in London last week to play at the O2 Stadium — the same venue the King of Pop will perform a 10-date “curtain call” this summer.

“It’s kind of amazing to have a chance to see him again — I’ll come to London [to see him],” Wentz said, adding, “I think there is potential that this is all part of the act, part of the illusion that he will be out onstage and be dancing like the same old Michael and that he has everybody tricked.”
