With Barack Obama poised to take the White House, one can’t help but wonder if Dennis Lyxzén, singer of politically-charged Swedish punks (International) Noise Conspiracy, is eating his own words. “You sit there hoping for something to save your life / We’re going to bleed into the dustbins of history,” he jauntily chants in “Dustbins of History,” a rollicking track off the band’s new album, Cross of My Calling (out November 25), that addresses the sorry state of our generation.
Whatever your political stance (Lyxzén is a staunch anarchist), this tune delivers in upbeat, anthemic choruses, choppy verses, and driving drums and gritty guitars. The song is excellent — but don’t take our word for it, listen:
