Mos Def and Beyonce aren’t the only ones with new film projects up their sleeves. Here, a recap of the latest music-meets-the-movies news:

50 Cent: Not only does he have a new album on the horizon, the December 9 release of Before I Self Destruct (which comes complete with a film of the same name), but 50 Cent also has plans to release another film in conjunction with the project: Two Turntables and a Microphone, a documentary focusing on the life, legacy, and untimely death of Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay [via MTV.com].

And that’s not all: Don’t forget about his new Apprentice-type reality show launching next week, and the role he recently landed in a remake of the French-language film 13 Tzameti [via NME.com].

Guided by Voices: The lo-fi indie rock alums have signed on to write the music to Steven Soderbergh’s new 3-D rock’n’roll musical remake of Cleopatra, reportedly starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Hugh Jackman [via Variety.com].

Beck & Gorillaz: And finally, though these won’t be coming to a theater near you anytime soon, Beck’s new “Gamma Ray” music video starring Chloe Sevigny, and Gorillaz collaborators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s “Monkey Bee” video merit mention, if only for their big-screen production values.
