Termanology, ‘Politics as Usual’ (Nature Sounds)

Emerging two years ago with the anthemic “Watch How It Go Down,” Massachusetts-bred MC Termanology seemed destined for the spotlight, and on his debut full-length, he enlists a cast of storied producers who defined the classic ’90s East Coast sound (from Large Professor to Buckwild to Nottz). Backed by the snazzy swoon of DJ Premier on “So Amazing” and Pete Rock’s eerie, existential dread on “We Killin’ Ourselves,” Term juices his flow with a new-school swagger. “I am on a pedestal / As high as a Ferris wheel,” he boasts in “The Chosen,” affirming his prime-time shine.
