Revisiting the SPIN/MySpace San Jacinto Saloon, SXSW 2008
Check out our gallery of just some of the bands that stopped by our tent on 6th Street to grab gear from Guitar Hero III, Airwalk, Ben Sherman, Spy Optics, and Eastport.
Austin, TX, March 12-15, 2008
For the first time ever, SPIN and MySpace took up a city block in the heart of downtown Austin to create the San Jacinto Saloon. The tent was filled with activity, including SPIN’s portrait studio, MySpace and SPIN.com interviews, acoustic performances, complimentary BBQ, drinks from Miller and Southern Comfort, and a Guitar Hero III high score competition.
The artists and bands who stopped by were treated to gifts from Ben Sherman, Airwalk, Eastport, Spy Optic, SESAC, and Guitar Hero III. The highest scoring Guitar Hero won a newly customized ride, decked out with Guitar Hero III merch and games. No strangers to competition (having won SPIN’s Hot Pursuit contest) the Scarlet walked away as the Guitar Hero III victors.
WHO:Tom Morello, Tim Fite, MGMT, Hot Water Music, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Johnathan Rice, American Bang,Drug Rug, No Age, Daryl Hall, Ben Jelen, Jay Reatard, Hymns, Ra Ra Riot, My Morning Jacket, the Matches, the Von Bondies, Sia, Dr. Dog, Man Man, and NOFX were just a few of the artists who dropped by the SPIN and MySpace San Jacinto Saloon.
