Vegas, the seminal debut album from breakbeat mavericks the Crystal Method, turns ten years old and what better way to celebrate than with a glass-shattering, floor-shaking party. Here, remix superstars MSTRKRFT offer their own pulsing translation of the intergalactic “Keep Hope Alive.” They’ve molded an arena-sized anthem complete with altered electronics, filtered and drenched in a crushing distortion. In the tradition of the ear-punishing assault Justice and their French house contemporaries at Ed Banger provided earlier this year, MSTRKRFT turn it up and do it dirty. Affected vocals are clipped and booming, barking orders from above as if possessed. But good luck making out words above the percussive onslaught that backs this electrifying racket. The 10th anniversary deluxe edition of Vegas will rumble your walls Sept. 18 via Geffen/UMe.
