Spin and Music Nation Ignite the Hot Pursuit

Spin magazine and Music Nation have officially kicked off voting in the Hot Pursuit, an online challenge in search of the next breakout rock act. Ambitious musicians are invited to enter by uploading videos, songs, and photos to spin.musicnation.com and creating an artist profile. Spin, together with Music Nation, is searching for an artist who truly represents the spirit of the Spin brand — an artist who is creative, passionate, and tireless — a band committed to making music for life.

Each week the public will vote, together with the Music Geeks — a team comprised of experienced Original Signal, Epic, and Spin staffers — to send two artists into the quarterfinals. At the end of eight weeks, the Hot Pursuit‘s panel of gifted, seasoned judges — Perry Farrell, alternative rock originator and Satellite Party frontman; Tim Kasher, pioneering Saddle Creek recording artist and frontman for Cursive and the Good Life; and Doug Brod, Spin editor — will make their picks to help determine the ultimate winner.

The Hot Pursuit‘s industrious victor, sealed with Spin‘s stamp of approval, will be awarded a record deal with Original Signal Recordings/Epic Records, a slot on the bill at Spin’s always anticipated, always packed annual SXSW party at Stubb’s in Austin, TX, and song inclusion on an upcoming 2K Sports video game.
