Bob Mould Opens His ‘Circle of Friends’

In celebration of his illustrious career, alt-rock pioneer Bob Mould is set to release Circle of Friends: Live at the 9:30 Club October 9th via MVD Visual. The DVD — recorded in October 2005 while touring behind Mould’s last solo effort Body of Song — is Mould’s first authorized live film, and features Brendan Canty (Fugazi) on drums, Richard Morel (Blowoff) on keys, and Jason Narducy (Rockets Over Sweden) on bass. Guaranteed to please fans of all Mould’s various phases, the disc is heavy on tracks from Sugar’s 1992 debut Copper Blue, but also includes a hefty amount of experimental and traditional solo material, as well as Hüsker Dü classics like “Makes No Sense At All” and “Could You Be the One?” Also included are pre-show interviews with Mould and his modern rock mafia. Are you ready to join Mould’s Circle of Friends? — just check out this preview of “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.”
