Album Updates: PJ Harvey, Jenny Hoyston

Fiery alt-rock songstress PJ Harvey has announced the release of White Chalk, her seventh record to date, set to hit store shelves via Island UK Sept. 24, NME.com reports. A U.S. release date has yet to-be-announced. As the follow up to 2004’s acclaimed effort Uh Huh Her, the new record, which Harvey began working on last year, returns the dim rocker to seasoned producers Flood and John Parish, both who worked on 1995’s To Bring You My Love and 1998’s Is This Desire?. In addition, the Dirty Three’s Eric Drew Feldman and Jim White, also both longtime Harvey collaborators, contribute to White Chalk.

In related news, Jenny Hoyston, frontwoman of San Francisco-based experimental set Erase Errata, will celebrate her birthday Sept. 11 with the release of her solo debut Isle Of. The record’s release, out courtesy of the Southern imprint, will preface a supporting yet-to-be announced tour of North America this fall. A Hoyston spokesperson was unavailable for comment at press time.
