The Verve Reunite

Brit rockers the Verve, comprised of frontman Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Pete Salisbury, have replaced fans’ bitter grimaces with sweet smiles by announcing the band’s reunion. Having split in 1999 following their well documented internal conflicts — notably between Ashcroft and McCabe — the Verve have now buried the hatchet and regrouped, replete with all four original members, for a handful of U.K. performances this fall. The Wigan-bred band also have plans to enter the studio this summer to complete their first new album since 1997’s chartbuster Urban Hymns, which offered the global hit “Bittersweet Symphony.” According to NME.com, the Verve reportedly claimed they’re, “getting back together for the joy of the music.”
