No Doubt Join Stefani on Stage

It appears No Doubt’s musical men — guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young — have grown tired of awaiting frontwoman Gwen Stefani to return from tour and spout her incessant musical epiphanies, for the boys joined the songstress on stage Friday (June 22) for a three-song encore. According to NME.com, Stefani retook the stage at Irvine, CA’s Verizon Amphitheatre for an encore with the No Doubt rockers following a lengthy performance of her solo material, heavily drawing from latest album The Sweet Escape. The reunited SoCal ska outfit then cut through standards like “Just a Girl,” “It’s My Life,” and “Spiderwebs” and after the band’s brief set, their first stage appearance in years, the quartet bowed amidst a frenzied, awestruck crowd. Note to Stefani: Wrap your tour and act as the saving grace to the boys’ “instrumentals looking for words.”
