Punk Goes Acoustic Sneak Peek

Wipe those tears, emo fans. The second installment of Punk Goes Acoustic is here to nurse those bruised hearts (and punk rock egos) with a tear-jerking host of unreleased and exclusive tracks! Out today via the Fearless imprint, both mainstays and up-and-comers of the respective rock genres have fine-tuned some fan favorites into acoustic standouts, and the All-American Rejects, Silverstein, and Mayday Parade are just a few to calm their angst-driven rock down into six strings and the occasional handclap.

Mark Hoppus of +44 couldn’t sound more sincere in his acoustic version of “Baby Come On,” while Jack’s Mannequin channels contemporary pop/rock tresses on “Bruised.” Say Anything’s Max Bemis lends his talents too, relatively toning down his oft-dramatic self for an almost whimsical, country-tinged version of “Woe.” Perhaps the most interesting transformation from punk to acoustic is Anti-Flag’s “Welcome to 1984,” a snarling tune which finds pissed off lead singer Justin Sane comparing Bush-era America to George Orwell’s epic book 1984. Bottom line: pick up Punk Goes Acoustic 2 before another car make-out session is ruined by the shrieking on your newest screamo album.
