Tour Updates: Velvet Revolver, Datarock

Velvet Revolver, the moniker of former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland and the remaining Guns N’ Roses outcasts, have announced a 12-date tour to preview material from the band’s forthcoming album Libertad, out July 3 on RCA. The band, or what Weiland refers to as “the five-headed beast” in a press release, will preview their variety of hard rock to audiences nationwide, beginning with a May 3 show at Los Angeles’ Avalon Theatre. Next, the jaunt will lead Velvet Revolver up the West Coast, stopping through San Francisco and Seattle, then skip midway across the nation to Chicago and Detroit. Finally, a string of gigs throughout the East Coast metropolises like Boston, Philadelphia, and New York City will wrap the outing.

Norwegian disco popsters Datarock, a.k.a. Fredrik Saroea and Ketil Mosnes, have confirmed a North American outing in support of the U.S. release of their debut album Datarock Datarock, dropping June 12 via Nettwerk, Pitchfork reports. The tour, kicking off June 1 in Philadelphia, will then head to New York City and perform for legions of dancing hipsters at Brooklyn’s Studio B venue June 2 before leaping north of the border for a pair of performances. From there, Saroea and Mosnes will step stateside and hit cities like Chicago and Minneapolis, then cross the border once more to descend the West Coast from Vancouver to Los Angeles.
