Raconteurs Return to Studio

Jack White is one busy man. When the Motor City-bred rocker isn’t confusing fans about the White Stripes’ forthcoming record, Icky Thump, he’s been conspiring over new tunes with his buddies Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler — collectively known as the Raconteurs. Billboard.com reports that the foursome are holed up in Nashville, TN’s Blackbird Studio, the same space where the White Stripes recorded Icky Thump, grinding out new tunes before Jack White heads out on tour with Meg.

“We don’t know if were going to finish but we wanted to get everything down before we got busy,” White told Billboard.com. “We have a lot bigger ideas about certain things, so we will see how far we get.” So far, the band has 12 songs slated for the yet-to-be titled follow up to their 2006 debut Broken Boy Soldiers, which will hopefully see light of day early next year. But with White’s stringent work ethic — he’s also logging hours as the album’s producer alongside engineer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, The Shins, Frank Zappa) — hopefully the Raconteurs will return sooner than later.
