Stream Timbaland’s New Single

Hip-hop’s wunder-producer Timbaland is set to release his own album, Shock Value, on March 27, and he’s recruited a genre-spanning, all-star cast of contributors, including Elton John, Snoop Dogg, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge, and the Hives. Scorching single “Give it to Me” features two artists for whom Tim has extensively twiddled knobs: Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado.

The club-ready cut opens with a heavy tribal beat that’s ballasted and bookended by JT and Nelly’s sleek vocals, and Timbaland comes in mid-song with his more subdued flow. Together, they make the ultimate trifecta: Nelly rhymes about her sexed-up appeal (“You love my ass and my abs and the video called ‘Promiscuous’ / My style is meticulous-s-s-s”), Justin croons about how he brought sexy back (“If sexy never left, then why’s everybody on my shi-i-i-t? / Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it”) and Tim, for his part, spits rhymes on how he rules the game (“I’m respected from Californ-i-a way down to Japan / I’m a real producer and you just the piano man”).
