Northern California-native Rafter Roberts, who performs under his first name, has just dropped Music for Total Chickens (Asthmatic Kitty), but this release is hardly for the birds. “Your War,” an off-kilter experimental slow-burner, builds delicate melodies with Rafter’s barely-there vocals complemented by pretty female harmonies. Lyrically, the song, inspired by Charles Bukowski, “is a summation of everything the album is about,” Rafter told “[Like] taking responsibility for the quality of your life, saving yourself, working towards goodness, or even greatness!”
