Imogen Heap Breezes Through Windy City

Fresh off receiving two Grammy nominations, British songstress Imogen Heap practically transformed Chicago’s Riviera Theater into a Broadway stage with her theatrical performance. The former Frou Frou-er was suffering from a bout of strep throat, but she still had the crowd dancing to “Headlock” and self-reflecting on pensive closer “The Moment I Said It.” Joined onstage by what she referred to as her “virtual band,” Heap stood barefoot and alone with her digital instruments, and later she was accompanied by a cellist, drummer, and guitarist. Immi saved her popular single, “Hide and Seek,” for the encore, which she delivered seated at a flower-adorned piano. ANGIE MALDONADO / PHOTOS BY KAREN CHAN
