In preparation for its release in 3-D format Oct. 20, Tim Burton’s holiday cult-fave The Nightmare Before Christmas is getting a spiffy new soundtrack, which includes covers of the flick’s original accompanying tunes by the likes of Fall Out Boy, among others. Though they’re contributing cover songs, artists featured on the soundtrack maintain their personal aesthetics: Marilyn Manson’s rendition of “This Is Halloween” is stylishly gothy while Panic! at the Disco’s version of the same track is uber-theatrical; Apple’s cover of “Sally’s Song” is especially brooding, and She Wants Revenge’s take on “Kidnap the Sandy Claws” is dark and danceable. You, lucky listeners, can preview all of these tunes and more from the album before it hits stores Oct. 24.
