They’ve been nominated for their country’s Polaris Music Prize alongside the likes of the New Pornographers and Wolf Parade, and now eclectic Montreal quartet Malajube are prepping to release sophomore album Trompe l’oeil as their ever-building buzz continues to amass. The album is a Broken Social Scene-y, unwieldy, exotic affair, and “Montreal -40°C”‘s joyfully soaring bah bah bah bahss are as brilliant as the intro of Flaming Lips space noises and breakdowns of chiming, enveloping guitars. The stellar song will make you smile, bounce, and wish you spoke French.
