Cat Power to Bring Fried Chicken, Peach Cobbler to Vegoose

During yesterday’s press conference for the Vegoose festival, set for next weekend in Las Vegas, a reporter asked Cat Power’s Chan Marshall what she’ll bring to the table during her performance. “Fried chicken, a side of ribs, peach cobbler, and some sweet rolls with butter,” she quipped. Marshall also shared that she plans to debut lots of new material, and hopes to duet with Jack White on a Ray Charles spin-off they’re working on together.

White, however, might not be up for it, given the disdain he and fellow Raconteur Brendan Benson expressed about seeing their new material end up on YouTube. “I’m not a hater of YouTube,” White said, “but if you were a painter, would you want to go and display half of your painting in a museum? Never! And you’d never want to have a quarter of your song released to the public…to be dissected and destroyed by Pitchfork and what not.”

Away from the festival grounds, fans can find Marshall in the casinos, where she plans to “blow $400.” As for White and Benson, they’ll be “burying some bodies out in the desert. Or digging up some bodies.”
