Gorillaz Calling it Quits… Possibly, Maybe

Taking a cue from “retired” hip-hop stars, Damon Albarn announced Gorillaz are calling it quits. Maybe.

“At the moment we’re like, that’s probably the last album we make,” Albarn said on stage at the Apollo on April 5, according to NME. “I don’t think we could make a better album than Demon Days really, for what this is and how it works.”

The ever-humble Albarn then added: “Last night we thought ‘Surely this isn’t the end,’ and I don’t know we’re saying it’s the end again, but it’s quite a hip-hop thing to retire and come back you know.”

While Albarn claims the band may just be out of creative juices, insiders are buzzing about other possible reasons why the cartoon band is calling it quits. We hear Murdoc is being courted by Looney Tunes while 2-D is in talks to join the cast of Family Guy.
