Cat Stevens Storming the Charts?

Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens, Steven Georgiou, and a name on the anti-terrorist “watch list”) hasn’t been a part of the contemporary music scene in decades, but now the “Moon Shadow” crooner wants to make an impact on the pop charts.

Since he ditched his music career in large part in the late 1970s, Stevens’ – er, Islam’s – “Wild World” has involved working with Muslim charities and being kicked off a London to D.C. flight in 2004 when the government discovered his name on its anti-terrorist watch list.

The singer is now set to release his first pop album since Back to Earth (1978), according to Billboard.com. The as-yet-untitled album is set to be released in the fall on an as-yet-undecided label.
