Modest Mouse Mixes with Marr

Pugnacious Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock recently told The Onion‘s A.V. Club that he’s really happy about the progress of Modest Mouse’s new album, and that a special collaborator has been racking up frequent flyer miles between Portland and Manchester, England. The special guest in question is Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Josh Modell, the Onion reporter who spoke with Brock wasn’t sure if the notoriously salty singer was joking or not. “I totally didn’t believe him,” Modell recalls. “I had just mentioned the Smiths a minute before, and I thought he was pulling my leg. Like an asshole, I asked him twice if he was lying, which I hope didn’t annoy the guy too much. He assured me that he wasn’t. Twice. Politely.” Marr recently reunited with Smiths’ bassist Andy Rourke to rock a Manchester benefit for cancer (read more). The new Modest Mouse album is slated for a release sometime by the end of 2006.
