The Breeders Say Aloha to London

The Breeders took the stage last night at the Scala in London after TV on the Radio bowed out of the 4AD 25th Anniversary party. The Breeders were originally slated to play two shows over the weekend as part of the 4AD Anniversary spectacular, but ended up performing in place of TVotR because of the unexpected death of frontman Tunde Adibimpe’s father. According to NME.com, the Breeders played an eight-song set, covering material from all three of their full-length albums. Highlights of the performance were “No Aloha,” off 1993’s Last Splash and “Oh!” from 1990’s Pod. Last night’s performance also marked the first time bassist Josephine Wiggs has played with the band since the early ’90s. The remaining members of TVotR played a DJ set after the Breeders short performance. The 4AD anniversary series continues this week in London, with performances from the Mountain Goats, the Celebration, and Kristen Hersh. Blonde Redhead plays the final performance on November 27.
