Kaiser Chiefs Singer Gets Down with Downing St.

It’s a meeting of two chiefs: Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs has been invited to the Downing Street home of British Prime Minister Tony Blair. According to the U.K. website Playlouder.com, Wilson is not going to brown nose the PM: “I’m not going to schmooze with Tony Blair,” the chief Chief said. “I’m going to have a good nose around Downing Street. Who wouldn’t?” Perhaps this is karmic retribution for losing the Mercury Prize to Antony. “I’ve got the ear of the Government,” Wilson also said. “That’s why I’m going.” It’s also a risky move: Oasis’ Noel Gallagher got flack from the Britpop scenesters when he visited Blair at 10 Downing right after the Labour Party man was elected as PM.

The Kaiser Chiefs are currently on tour this month in the U.K. and will take their show to the continent next month before playing a set of shows in Australia.
