Contrary to popular belief, Arthurfest is not sponsored by the cartoon aardvark who appears on PBS; it’s an alt-rock fest supported by the Los Angeles based culture mag Arthur. The first annual Arthurfest is slated to take place on September 4-5 at Barnsdall Art Park in L.A. Sonic Youth and Sleater-Kinney are headlining, but Cat Power, Wolfmother, Dead Meadow, and Olivia Tremor Control are all confirmed for performances. Two-day passes go on sale June 21 at local music stores in Los Angeles and through TicketWeb.
